BEGINNING 
This six week class introduces the foundation of djembe hand drumming. Students will learn the basic techniques of bass, tone, and slap, as well as patterns used in the accompaniment of beginner rhythms. They will also begin to feel and understand the relationship between the djembe and the dununs (bass drums).

ADVANCED DRUMMING
For those with prior hand drum experience. Rhythms taught in this class use more complex handing patterns and solo techniques are introduced. Emphasis is also placed on refining the quality of tones and slaps, along with the ability to play signals and breaks.

PRIVATE SINGLE OR GROUP LESSONS
Available by arrangement. Private lessons are $30 for 1/2 hour and $60 per hour.

INTRODUCTION TO WEST AFRICAN PERCUSSION
This workshop offers an introduction to the traditional music of West Africa. Vanessa presents the basic principles of drumming and gives participants the opportunity to explore rhythm patterns on the djembe. Intro Workshops cost is $50 per person.

THE HEALING DRUM
Experience the drum as a vehicle for healing and deepening self awareness. This workshop combines Ceremony, Shamanic Journeying & Trance Drumming. Experience for yourself the Healing Power of these traditional rhythms. No prior hand drum experience is needed. The Healing Drum workshop is $75 per person.

Custom workshops and rhythm events can be designed to address your group's interests and focus. We have worked with groups, business teams, educational gatherings and corporate consultants.  Drumming experiences awaken a whole different dimension of participation and connection.
